I was born and raised in Cleveland Idaho, on Treasurton summit between Preston and Grace. I graduated in Finance from Utah State University. I married Karen King, from Grace Idaho and have two children, Zac and Lindsay. I returned to the family farm upon graduating from USU and continue to farm, raising wheat and barley. I entered the insurance industry as an agent in 1983, initially working for Farm Bureau Insurance, and later for Mutual Insurance in Pocatello. In 1985, as an independent agent, I opened an insurance office in Grace. A year later I purchased the Whitehead Insurance Agency (which had its roots in the First National Bank of Grace, dating back to 1917) located in Soda Springs. The name was then changed to Mountain States Insurance Group Inc.
Initially the industry accommodated an agent that could sale and service all lines of insurance. As the years have gone by, the products have become more complex and demanding. I find that most of my time currently is focused on management responsibilities along with the sales and servicing of agriculturally related insurance products, i.e. farm and ranch property and casualty insurance, and crop insurance. I enjoy the challenges and rewards of the insurance industry and appreciate the associations that have developed over the years with clients and companies.

Christie has been with Mountain States since 2011 – but truly enjoys the insurance business and the people that she works with. Before becoming an insurance agent Christie worked for a paramedical company and serviced the postal contract in Grays Lake for 17 years. For a few years she lived in El Paso, Texas with her husband Scott and worked for Zargas Animal Clinic that practiced equine medicine from Ruidoso, NM to the Sunland Park Race Track in El Paso. Christie loved Texas and the animal clinic but knew that she always wanted to come home and raise her family in Idaho.
Christie grew up on a farm/ranch around horses, cattle, tractors and potato equipment and is partial to the agriculture side of the insurance industry. She loves living in Grays Lake with Scott and their six children; Colter, Jake, Katie, Kammi, Hallie & Cooper. Life keeps them very busy with all of their extra activities but they all adore living in the quiet, little valley at the far northeast corner of Caribou County.

From the time I was a small boy until I turned nineteen I lived and worked in an agricultural community in rural south-east Idaho. Working along-side my family, I was able to experience first-hand the hard work involved in maintaining a farm. I became familiar with crops such as wheat, potatoes, and barley.
After graduating from high school, I moved to Logan, Utah where I attended Utah State University and pursued a degree in business finance. Over the next 4 years I divided my time between my studies and work in the construction industry. During this time I gained experience in the area of general contracting and became specialized in framing and concrete work.
In 2009 I decided to follow a new course and became a licensed agent with Mountain States Insurance Group, Inc. Armed with an extensive knowledge of agricultural and commercial practices, I have enjoyed providing quality, comprehensive service to my insured’s. I work to ensure that you have the best coverage for your needs at a competitive price.
